As part of the official visit of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) delegation to Singapore, Muscat College participated in the visit to the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) — Singapore’s first university to adopt an applied learning model that integrates education with real-world industry experience.

During the visit, the delegation explored SIT’s innovative research ecosystem, learning how the university transforms industrial challenges into practical and sustainable solutions. The sessions highlighted SIT’s strong collaboration with industry partners and its mission to produce career-ready graduates equipped with future skills.

A key feature of the visit was a presentation on the Living Lab, an interactive environment where ideas are tested, refined, and applied in real industry settings. Delegates also toured SIT’s advanced research centers specializing in development, technology, and innovation, gaining insights into how research is applied to enhance productivity and innovation across multiple sectors.

Muscat College’s participation underscores its commitment to global partnerships, practice-based education, and innovation-led learning. Through such international engagements, the College aims to strengthen academic exchange, research collaboration, and the development of programs that prepare students for the evolving demands of the global job market.

Muscat College Joins Ministerial Delegation to Singapore – Day 1 Highlights

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships in higher education, research, and innovation, Muscat College proudly participated in the official delegation accompanying H.E. Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, during her official visit to the Republic of Singapore .

The first day of the visit featured a series of insightful engagements aimed at exploring Singapore’s leading models in research excellence, innovation ecosystems, and university–industry collaboration.

The program began with a visit to Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore), one of the world’s top research-intensive universities. The delegation was introduced to NTU’s Smart Campus vision, which leverages digital technologies and sustainable solutions to enhance the learning and research environment. Discussions with university leaders and researchers covered key topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, and environmental sciences, reflecting NTU’s strong emphasis on applied research and innovation that bridges academia, industry, and government.

The visit continued to the National Research Foundation (NRF), Singapore’s central agency responsible for directing and funding national research and development efforts. The delegation was briefed on the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE2025) strategy — a comprehensive national framework that aligns research priorities with Singapore’s economic and social objectives. The session also highlighted opportunities for collaboration in multidisciplinary research, innovation programs, and capacity building, particularly in areas of shared interest such as AI, sustainability, and advanced technologies.

The day concluded with a tour of the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE), a global research hub that brings together world-renowned universities including MIT, ETH Zurich, and Technical University of Munich (TUM). The delegation learned about ongoing collaborative projects in smart cities, sustainable energy, health sciences, and urban innovation, underscoring Singapore’s integrated approach to global research partnerships.

Muscat College’s participation in this high-level visit underscores its commitment to building international collaborations and supporting Oman’s Vision 2040 through initiatives that advance innovation, sustainability, and academic excellence. The College continues to actively seek opportunities for cooperation with leading global institutions to enhance educational quality, foster research, and contribute to national development priorities.

With bold steps toward the future, the Board of Trustees of Muscat College gathered to celebrate the College’s milestones and set the course for the academic year 2025–26. The meeting reflected the College’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and preparing students for success in a fast-changing world.

During the visit, Dr. Arabi Ahmed Hussain, Acting Dean of Muscat College, presented a comprehensive overview highlighting the college’s major accomplishments and outlining its future development plans that focus on enhancing the quality of education and enriching the student learning experience.

This distinguished visit reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to supporting private higher education institutions and encouraging them to pursue innovation and excellence in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040.

وجرت مراسم التوقيع في مقر الكلية بحضور عدد من المسؤولين من الجانبين، حيث أكد الطرفان التزامهما بتفعيل بنود الاتفاق من خلال إطلاق برامج تدريبية متخصصة، وتقديم خدمات استشارية نوعية تواكب متطلبات سوق العمل وتدعم تطلعات الطلبة والخريجين وأعضاء الهيئة الأكاديمية والإدارية.

As part of its efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships that support the educational ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat College has signed a cooperation agreement with the Education Endowment Foundation (Siraj), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. 

This agreement aims to empower students with broader educational opportunities and to support sustainable education initiatives through scholarships and joint programs — enhancing the quality of higher education and contributing to the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Muscat College and Knowledge Oman have renewed their long-standing MoU, first signed in 2012, to strengthen efforts in student empowerment and community development. The renewal, initiated by the Muscat College Research Centre, was formalized during a ceremony held on campus.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Araby Madbouly, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at Muscat College, and Mr. Tariq Al Barwani, Founder of Knowledge Oman, with the presence of senior representatives from both institutions.

This renewed collaboration presents an exciting opportunity for students to develop entrepreneurial skills and turn their ideas into real-world ventures. Through mentorship, training sessions, and startup support, students will gain hands-on experience and expert guidance to launch sustainable and socially impactful projects.

“This agreement supports Oman’s Vision 2040 by building a generation of innovative, socially conscious leaders,” said Dr. Madbouly.

Mr. Al Barwani added, “We are proud to continue our mission of enabling youth to create real-world impact.”

By placing students at the center, this partnership opens new doors for innovation, creativity, and meaningful community contribution.

As part of Muscat College’s efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships with private sector institutions, a cooperation agreement has been signed between Muscat College and Arla. This agreement aims to support practical training, the exchange of expertise, and enhance employment and training opportunities for the college’s students and graduates.

This partnership reflects Muscat College’s commitment to developing a qualified national workforce and reinforcing its role in bridge the gap between education and the labor market.

UMPSA final-year students presented their poster on Tuesday,6th of May 2025 as part of the final year dissertation. It was well attended by both students and staff.

There were 20 Posters presented based on various projects including IoT, Game, Mobile, and Web Applications which are relevant to Oman’s vision 2040.
